On April 12, the traditional consecration of easter bread for Ukrainian soldiers took place in St. Michael's Cathedral. On the same day, they will go to the front line for a giveaway through the Chaplaincy Service
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphany, noted that this is a good tradition of supporting Ukrainian soldiers, which was established back in 2014 when the Russian military aggression began.
"By consecrating this easter bread, the Church, together with benefactors, wants to convey love to our defenders. This consecrated bread is a sign of blessing so that our soldiers return home in good health and continue to develop our Motherland," said Metropolitan Epiphany.
Philanthropist and businesswoman Vlada Molchanova added in her speech: "I sincerely believe that this year will be the year of victory for Ukraine, and the next year our defenders will celebrate a bright Easter holiday with their relatives".
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Metropolitan Epiphany noted the support of Vlada Molchanova of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and awarded her with the "Cross of Freedom" church medal for self-sacrificing service to preserve God's gift of freedom and independence.
The event was attended by the vicar of the St. Michael Golden-Top Monastery, Archbishop Agapit, the commander of the combined forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naev, military personnel of the armed forces, as well as volunteers.
The easter bread for Ukrainian defenders was purchased with the support of the Vlada Molchanova Foundation. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Vlada Molchanova Foundation provides logistical and technical support to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
